Pakistan’s government on Saturday claimed to have uncovered a “heinous conspiracy” orchestrated by India following the failure of Operation Sindoor. Officials accused New Delhi of launching misinformation campaigns and attempting to use a Pakistani fisherman, Ijaz Mallah, for espionage activities.
At a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Ministers Atta Tarar and Talal Chaudhry presented what they said was evidence of the plot, including Mallah’s alleged confessional statement and an audio recording of an Indian handler.
Information Minister Atta Tarar claimed India could not “digest Pakistan’s victory” in Marka-e-Haq and had resorted to propaganda after Operation Sindoor failed. He ridiculed Indian media reports that falsely claimed ports in Lahore and Multan were destroyed, pointing out that both cities are landlocked.
Ijaz Mallah, a Pakistani fisherman, was reportedly arrested by the Indian Coast Guards and coerced by Indian intelligence to carry out anti-Pakistan tasks.
In his confessional statement, Mallah said he was instructed to acquire uniforms of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Rangers, along with Zong SIM cards, cigarettes, and currency, which he then sent to a secret Indian officer. Upon returning to Pakistan, he was arrested by local authorities.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry accused Indian media, or “Godi media,” of spreading false narratives to divert attention from domestic political failures, particularly ahead of elections. He also claimed that the misuse of Zong SIMs was part of an attempt to fabricate stories against China.
Both ministers emphasized that Pakistan’s security agencies are vigilant and fully capable of monitoring and countering hostile activities. They reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, regional stability, and respect for sovereignty, warning that no foreign power would be allowed to exploit Pakistani territory for malicious purposes.
The briefing concluded with assurances that Pakistan’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies had successfully foiled India’s alleged designs, reinforcing the country’s stance as a responsible state determined to expose and confront conspiracies against it.
