Unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban and the group Fatna ul-Khawarij took place in Kurram, prompting a strong and forceful response from the Pakistan Army.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, the Taliban fled, abandoning their posts and the bodies of their comrades. Security sources reported that Pakistan Army retaliatory fire inflicted severe damage on Taliban positions.
A fire broke out at the posts, and the Army destroyed a Taliban tank with precision and skill. The Afghan Taliban retreated, leaving behind the bodies of their fighters.
Operations against the Taliban and Fatna ul-Khawarij continue, according to security sources. Within an hour, the fourth tank position, Shamshad Post, was destroyed. Reports also confirmed the death of a key commander of Fatna ul-Khawarij. Fighters from both groups are abandoning their posts and retreating amid intensified Pakistani operations.
The Pakistan Army is also conducting ongoing clearance operations targeting terrorist hideouts in border regions. Eyewitnesses reported that civilians from both sides of the border have begun relocating due to escalating cross-border tension.
It should be recalled that on the night of 11 October, the Afghan Taliban initiated unprovoked firing on Pakistani border posts. In response, the Pakistan Army launched a swift and decisive counteroffensive.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that credible intelligence and post-operation assessments verified that more than 200 Indian-backed Khawarij were killed during the clashes, while the number of injured militants was significantly higher.
The ISPR added that several Taliban posts, camps, and headquarters, as well as infrastructure supporting their terrorist networks, were completely destroyed during the counter-attack.
The Pakistan Army reaffirmed its determination to eliminate all threats along the border, ensuring that the country’s sovereignty and security remain uncompromised.
