Medical Team Deployed to Isolated Tero Village After Flooding
GILGIT-BALTISTAN – On the special directives of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army has launched a relief and rescue operation in Tero, a remote and flood-affected village in Phander tehsil of Gilgit-Baltistan. The operation aims to address the urgent medical and humanitarian needs of residents who have been left stranded after floodwaters cut off road access to the area.
A field hospital has been set up in the village, manned by a specialist medical team that includes a paediatrician, gynaecologist, medical specialist, and a general duty medical officer. These experts are currently providing round-the-clock healthcare services to the local population. The lack of medical facilities had raised serious concerns about the health and well-being of residents, prompting the army’s swift intervention.
The medical team has already treated a large number of patients, dispensed necessary medicines, and committed to staying in the area for as long as needed. Four critically injured individuals were evacuated by army helicopters to nearby hospitals for immediate and specialized medical attention.
Army Distributes Essential Relief Supplies to Affected Families
In addition to healthcare efforts, the Pakistan Army has also distributed relief supplies to the residents of Tero. Families received flour, rice, lentils, clean drinking water, and other essential food items to help them cope with the aftermath of the disaster. These measures are part of a broader public welfare initiative, and military officials have assured that the relief operation will continue until the community achieves full recovery.
The people of Tero have welcomed the army’s efforts, expressing gratitude for the timely support and assistance during a time of extreme hardship.
