KARACHI: The Pakistan Army fulfilled the heartfelt wish of young Usman Aqeel, a resident of Karachi who is battling the life-threatening condition calciphylaxis, by inviting him to experience a day as an officer at the Corps Headquarters.
Usman Aqeel is courageously fighting calciphylaxis, a rare and severe disease. Despite his ongoing battle, the brave boy had expressed a strong desire to serve as an officer in the Pakistan Army for one day.
In response to his wish, Lieutenant General Owais Dastgir, the Corps Commander of Karachi, welcomed Usman with warmth and admiration at the headquarters. During his visit, the Corps Commander praised Usman’s determination and commended his spirit of bravery.
In a touching moment, Usman’s mother had the honor of placing the captain’s ranks on his shoulders, symbolically appointing him as an officer for the day.
Usman was also given the rare opportunity to fire various weapons used by the Pakistan Army, as well as receive briefings on military training and operational procedures.
Reflecting on his special day, Usman said, “Today, my dream of joining the Pakistan Army has come true. I am thankful to the Corps Commander Karachi for making this possible.” He further added, “The way our army defeated India is unmatched. Every child in Pakistan stands proudly with our soldiers and is always ready to face any enemy.”
This heartwarming gesture from the Pakistan Army highlights their commitment to spreading hope and joy, especially among young citizens who are courageously facing adversity.
Calciphylaxis, a rare condition that causes painful skin lesions, occurs when calcium deposits build up in small blood vessels under the skin, obstructing blood flow and leading to tissue damage.
This gesture follows the Pakistan Army’s previous tribute, dedicating the launch of the Al-Fateh ballistic missile—used in Operation Bunyan-al-Marsoos (Iron Wall)—to the innocent Pakistani children martyred in an Indian strike.
