Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by militants trying to cross into Pakistan from the Afghan border, killing 25 terrorists during a fierce exchange of fire. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), five soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom while defending the nation in the operation.
The infiltration attempt occurred at two separate locations along the border — North Waziristan’s Spinwam area and the Ghakhi region of Kurram.
Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the infiltrating groups and preventing them from breaching Pakistani territory. The ISPR reported that 15 militants were killed in Spinwam, including four suicide bombers, while 10 were neutralized in Ghakhi.
The statement added that the militants were effectively targeted, and a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosive material was recovered from their possession. The encounter underscores Pakistan’s continued commitment to eliminating terrorism and securing its borders.
During the intense operation, five brave soldiers laid down their lives in the line of duty. The martyred soldiers were identified as 35-year-old Havildar Manzoor Hussain from Ghizer, 23-year-old Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani from Poonch, 24-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Adil from Kasur, Sepoy Ali Asghar from Pakpattan, and 25-year-old Sepoy Shah Jehan from Vehari.
The ISPR praised the troops for their exceptional courage, resilience, and determination, saying their sacrifices will forever be remembered as a testament to the Pakistan Army’s valor. The spokesperson reaffirmed that such sacrifices only strengthen the nation’s resolve to eradicate terrorism from its soil.
The incident took place as delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan were holding talks in Türkiye. The attack has raised concerns about the interim Afghan government’s commitments to preventing the use of Afghan territory for cross-border terrorism.
