PM Shehbaz, President Erdogan Reaffirm Strategic Partnership
Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to enhance cooperation on key regional and international matters, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across the region and the broader Muslim world.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Baku on Saturday, held on the sidelines of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day Parade.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also attended the meeting, reflecting the importance of defence and strategic coordination in Pakistan–Turkiye relations.
Bilateral Cooperation to Expand Across Multiple Sectors
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed determination to further strengthen collaboration in diverse areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the recent Pak–Turkiye Friendship Week celebrations, calling them a powerful demonstration of the deep and historic bonds between the two nations. He emphasised Pakistan’s resolve to transform its brotherly ties with Turkiye into a more comprehensive partnership encompassing politics, defence, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.
The leaders also agreed that a high-level Turkish ministerial delegation will soon visit Pakistan to explore new avenues of cooperation and deepen existing partnerships.
Both sides reiterated their shared vision for regional stability and global peace, pledging to continue close coordination in international forums and support initiatives that strengthen unity and progress within the Muslim world.
