Pakistan and Türkiye have reiterated their commitment to further strengthen bilateral defence and military cooperation during a high-level meeting held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Friday.
Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan. Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Bayraktaroglu was presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces, reflecting the cordial and longstanding ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional and global security environment, and explored avenues to enhance defence and military collaboration. The leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Türkiye relations and emphasized the importance of close coordination to address shared security challenges.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted, brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye, noting that the partnership is founded on shared history, mutual trust, and strong people-to-people connections.
He expressed appreciation for the continued support extended by the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding military-to-military cooperation.
General Bayraktaroglu thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm welcome and commended the professionalism and operational readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He reiterated Türkiye’s resolve to further expand defence cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in areas such as joint training programmes, combined military exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.
The visit underscored the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, which continues to grow across multiple domains, including defence, security, and regional stability. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and security in the region through enhanced cooperation and mutual support.
Officials noted that such high-level engagements play a vital role in strengthening institutional linkages between the armed forces of both countries and contribute to deepening the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
