Pakistan and Saudi Arabiaโs military leadership held high-level discussions on Monday to strengthen the โlongstanding and strategicโ ties between the two nations, focusing on defence, security, and counter-terrorism cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting took place at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir hosted Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili.
During the talks, both leaders reviewed matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on enhancing military collaboration, security coordination, and counter-terrorism initiatives, which remain central to the bilateral relationship.
The meeting highlighted the enduring strategic partnership between Islamabad and Riyadh, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to deepen defence and security cooperation.
General Al Rowaili praised Pakistanโs contributions to various fields of military cooperation and reiterated his dedication to further strengthening the ties between the Saudi Armed Forces and the Pakistan Army. Upon arrival at GHQ, he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and received a Guard of Honour, reflecting the formal recognition and respect accorded to the visiting dignitary.
The discussions follow the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement signed by Islamabad and Riyadh in September, under which any aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both.
Earlier this month, Pakistanโs CGS Lieutenant General Aamer Raza visited Riyadh to discuss expanding strategic cooperation and reinforcing the commitments under the defence pact.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a multifaceted relationship that extends beyond military cooperation to economic collaboration and energy partnerships, with Saudi Arabia providing significant financial aid and oil supplies to Islamabad.
The two nationsโ relationship is further reinforced by shared Islamic heritage, common geopolitical interests, and a longstanding history of mutual support in defence and security matters, forming a foundation for continued strategic partnership in the years ahead.
