Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi met Oman’s Minister of the Royal Office, General Sultan bin Mohammad Al Nu’amani, on Thursday during an official visit to Muscat, the Embassy of Pakistan in Oman said in a statement.
During the meeting, both sides discussed measures to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors for the mutual benefit of the two nations. A statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior said the talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations and resolving visa-related challenges faced by Pakistani citizens living and working in Oman.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Minister Naqvi emphasized the deep religious, cultural, and historical ties that bind Pakistan and Oman. He noted that thousands of Pakistanis are contributing to Oman’s economic development through their hard work and professionalism.
“Facilitating visa procedures will allow more skilled Pakistani workers to explore employment opportunities in Oman,” the minister stated.
General Al Nu’amani reaffirmed the brotherly relationship between the two countries and expressed his government’s commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields.
Regional Peace and Connectivity
Both ministers also exchanged views on the regional security situation and stressed the importance of continued engagement to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Separately, Oman and the UAE announced plans for a new cross-border rail service connecting Sohar and Abu Dhabi. Under a preliminary agreement signed between Noatum Logistics, a subsidiary of AD Ports Group, and Hafeet Rail, the service will operate seven container trains per week, with a total capacity of 193,200 TEUs annually.
