The Pakistan Embassy in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Centre (CICCC) jointly hosted the first-ever Pakistan-China Fashion Show at the Great Wall of China. The event celebrated creativity, friendship, and cultural fusion between the two nations.
Designers Blend Heritage and Modernity
Renowned Pakistani designers Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwaullah, and Zain Hashmi showcased exclusive collections blending Pakistani and Chinese styles. China-based Pakistani designer Aqeel Chaudhary also presented his jewellery collection, adding sparkle to the evening.
Famous Chinese designer Ms Liang Suyun displayed her latest work, while Adnan Ansari from Riwayat curated the show. Senior Chinese officials, media representatives, business leaders, and diplomats attended the event, marking a milestone in cultural collaboration.
Ambassador Highlights Silk Road Connection
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, said the Great Wall provided a majestic venue to celebrate the Silk Road’s enduring spirit. He noted that the show symbolised a modern bridge of art, fabric, and friendship.
The Ambassador also highlighted the event’s historical importance, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the first Pakistani dignitary’s visit to the Great Wall. He stressed that the show reflected commercial potential and creative synergy between Pakistani fashion and the Chinese market.
China Stresses Deep Cultural Partnership
Chairman of CICCC, Long Yuxiang, said the fashion show reflected the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He described it as a vibrant example of cultural and people-to-people exchange between the two nations.
He added that both countries shared a deep cultural heritage and a shared vision for improving lives through fashion. Long Yuxiang reaffirmed his commitment to promoting traditional aesthetics and creating distinctive fashion collaborations that inject new energy into Pakistan-China design.
Celebrating a Historic Milestone
The show took place at Badaling, the most famous section of the Great Wall. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first Pakistani dignitary’s visit to this iconic landmark, adding special significance to the event.
