Focus on trade, education, regional cooperation, and humanitarian concerns
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Touhid Hossain, Foreign Adviser of Bangladesh, in Dhaka on Sunday to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The meeting aimed to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors and foster stronger ties between the two South Asian neighbours.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the discussions covered a broad range of topics including high-level political exchanges, trade and economic cooperation, cultural and educational collaboration, people-to-people contacts, and capacity building initiatives. Humanitarian issues also featured prominently in the dialogue.
Regional Peace and Multilateral Cooperation Discussed
The two sides also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, focusing particularly on the revival of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Both Pakistan and Bangladesh reaffirmed the importance of revitalising the regional bloc to promote economic and political cooperation among South Asian nations.
Other global humanitarian concerns such as the Rohingya refugee crisis and the ongoing conflict in Palestine were also discussed. Both parties emphasised the need for peaceful resolutions and stronger multilateral engagement to address these challenges.
The talks were described by the Foreign Office as taking place in a “constructive atmosphere,” highlighting the goodwill and mutual respect that characterise current Pakistan-Bangladesh relations. Both countries committed to working together to further enhance bilateral ties and expand cooperation across new and existing fields.

Following the official meeting, Bangladeshi Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain hosted a lunch in honour of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, reaffirming the friendly relations and diplomatic warmth between the two nations.
