High-Level Azerbaijani Delegation Visits Air Headquarters, Islamabad to Boost Defense Ties
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to assist Azerbaijan in upgrading and modernizing its air force. The announcement came during a high-level meeting at Air Headquarters, Islamabad, where a visiting Azerbaijani defense delegation held detailed discussions on defense cooperation and joint initiatives.
Led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Agil Gurbanov, the delegation engaged in talks with senior PAF officials, focusing on deepening strategic collaboration, enhancing joint training programs, and advancing multi-domain operational capabilities.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening technical and tactical cooperation, with particular focus on the transfer of aerospace knowledge, joint training, and capacity building. The Air Chief reiterated that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy a historic and brotherly relationship, rooted in common values, culture, and regional priorities.
Air Chief Marshal Sidhu also briefed the delegation on the PAF’s operational preparedness, highlighting its progress in indigenization and aerospace innovation, while expressing readiness to extend full support in modernizing Azerbaijan’s air force infrastructure and training systems.
Azerbaijan Lauds PAF’s Professionalism and Seeks Deeper Collaboration
Deputy Minister Agil Gurbanov praised the exceptional professionalism of PAF personnel and acknowledged Pakistan’s significant strides in modern aerospace technologies. He expressed Azerbaijan’s strong interest in building a robust military partnership with Pakistan, especially in the areas of multi-domain operations, joint exercises, and knowledge exchange.
Gurbanov noted that Azerbaijan aims to revamp its entire military training system, starting from the academy level, and sees the Pakistan Air Force as a trusted and capable partner in this transformative journey. He emphasized that learning from PAF’s multi-domain warfare strategy could significantly boost Azerbaijan’s combat effectiveness and long-term defense capabilities.
The visit highlights the shared desire of both nations to deepen strategic defense ties while promoting regional peace, stability, and mutual growth. The leaders agreed to continue working closely on future defense initiatives and collaborative efforts in aerospace development.
