LAHORE: Over 6000 illegal Afghans living in the Punjab province were expelled in a few days after the provincial government launched a strict crackdown against unwanted ‘guests’. Since November 3, 2025, the provincial government has repatriated more than six thousand unlawful Afghan nationals.
To get rid of the illegal Afghan citizens, the Punjab government has given a special task to the Police to trace the unwanted Afghans and send them back to their country.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari also pointed out that the government has accelerated its repatriation drive targeting illegal Afghan residents. She said that police teams are conducting verification across major urban and rural areas to locate the illegal residents.
Punjab Information Minister further stated that the campaign aligns with federal directives on undocumented foreign nationals. She said the government aims to complete the exercise systematically. She stressed that coordination between departments has improved during the ongoing operation. She also highlighted that the campaign focuses on legal compliance rather than intimidation. Officials continue to follow standard procedures to ensure fairness throughout the process. She reiterated that the government intends to implement the policy without discrimination.
Public Cooperation Strengthens the Operation
The minister urged citizens to report illegal residents to designated authorities. She said timely reporting helps maintain security and order in communities. Bohari noted that the provincial government has introduced a cash reward for citizens who expose illegal Afghan residents. She said people who share credible information will receive financial incentives. She added that the reward scheme aims to encourage responsible civic behaviour. She said the operation continues to progress successfully with growing public support.
Whistleblower Mechanism Encourages Reporting
Azma Bokhari confirmed that many citizens have shared useful intelligence under the Whistleblower Act. She stressed that authorities will ensure complete confidentiality for individuals providing information. She added that the provincial government has announced cash reward for the whistle blowers.
She said officials have increased monitoring in districts where undocumented migration remains high. She added that the provincial government continues its crackdown with full administrative support. She said the announcement aims to encourage more public cooperation as the campaign enters an aggressive phase.
