Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has strongly condemned India’s alleged support for terrorism within Pakistan and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to countering such threats through modern warfare strategies and national unity.
Speaking at a dialogue session held in Karachi with representatives from various religious, ethnic, and social communities, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) emphasized the importance of inclusivity, equality, and national cohesion as vital components in the country’s resilience.
The meeting, aimed at fostering understanding and solidarity, was marked by open conversations on religious harmony, security concerns, and the role of citizens in nation-building.
“Pakistan belongs to all its citizens equally,” said Lt Gen Sharif. “The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees full rights to followers of all religions. National harmony can only flourish when equality and mutual respect form the foundation of our society.”
He stressed that intolerance, sectarianism, and ethnic hatred are the products of ignorance and disinformation—forces that can only be defeated through collective wisdom and unity. “Unity is Pakistan’s greatest strength. If we remain united, no power in the world can defeat us,” he stated confidently.
Addressing the growing misuse of religious rhetoric, Lt Gen Sharif issued a firm reminder about the constitutional limits on declarations of religious warfare. “Only the state has the authority to declare jihad,” he stated. “No individual, cleric, or group holds the right to make such declarations. Doing so is not only unconstitutional but also dangerous to national stability.”
The DG ISPR’s remarks came in the context of increasing concerns over the misuse of religion by non-state actors to justify violence and sow discord. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s internal peace and security through both advanced military capabilities and engagement with the public.
Community leaders present at the meeting expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s outreach, welcoming the opportunity to engage in dialogue with top military leadership.
Many voiced their desire for such interactions to continue, noting that inclusive conversations between state institutions and civil society are essential for fostering long-term peace and mutual trust.
The event ended on a hopeful note, with a shared commitment from both sides to work together in strengthening national unity, promoting interfaith harmony, and confronting the internal and external challenges facing the country.
