ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has officially announced the results of the Central Superior Services (CSS) 2024 written examination, highlighting once again the highly competitive nature of the prestigious civil service recruitment process.
Of the 23,100 candidates who applied, 15,602 appeared for the written exam, with only 395 successfully clearing it. This equates to a remarkably low pass rate of 2.53%, emphasizing the FPSC’s strict evaluation standards and the rigorous demands of the CSS exam.
The successful candidates will now move on to the next stages of the selection process, which include psychological testing, interviews, and medical evaluations. These assessments will determine final eligibility for key government posts across Pakistan’s bureaucracy.
Clearing the written exam is considered a major milestone for CSS aspirants and marks the beginning of a challenging but rewarding path toward national service.
Meanwhile, a separate issue has raised concerns about exam integrity. In a recent meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), chaired by Junaid Akbar, it was revealed that individuals holding only intermediate-level qualifications were appointed as invigilators for CSS and FPSC exams — a serious breach of recruitment standards.
The committee also flagged Rs. 26 million in unexplained cash payments related to exam administration, prompting audit objections.
Chairman Akbar ordered an immediate end to cash-based transactions and instructed the Establishment and FPSC Secretaries to ensure all future appointments comply strictly with regulations.
