An army officer embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, conducted by Pakistan Army on confirmed intelligence reports, resulted in the elimination of seven Indian proxy terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Thursday.
During the intense exchange of fire, Major Sibtain Haider, who was leading his troops from the front, fought bravely and embraced martyrdom while defending the homeland. The 30-year-old officer, a resident of Quetta, demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership during the operation.
Tributes from National Leadership
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the loss and paid rich tribute to Major Sibtain Haider, stating that the officer had โset a great example by sacrificing his life for Pakistan.โ
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the security forces for their successful operation against Fitna al-Khawarij, acknowledging their unmatched bravery and professionalism. He said the entire nation takes pride in the armed forces who are defending the country day and night against internal and external threats.
The premier reaffirmed the governmentโs and nationโs commitment to continue the fight against terrorism until the complete elimination of this menace. He emphasized that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and fully supports their unwavering dedication to national security.
Sanitisation and Recovery of Weapons
Following the operation, a sanitisation process is underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists. Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the eliminated militants, who had been involved in multiple attacks against civilians, law enforcement agencies, and security personnel.
The ISPR confirmed that the terrorists neutralized in the operation were part of Indian-sponsored proxy networks operating within Pakistan to destabilize the country.
Continuing Counterterrorism Efforts Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The latest IBO follows another major operation in Orakzai district, where two army officers and nine soldiers embraced martyrdom while eliminating 19 terrorists. The martyred officers were identified as Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq (39) and Major Tayyab Rahat (33), both residents of Rawalpindi.
The 272nd Corps Commandersโ Conference (CCC) recently reaffirmed the armyโs resolve to neutralize Indian-sponsored terror proxies, including Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan, vowing to dismantle all networks threatening Pakistanโs internal security.
Nation United Against Terrorism
Pakistan continues to face a resurgence of terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which together account for over 96% of national violence cases. Official data recorded 901 fatalities and 599 injuries in 329 incidents of violence, including both terrorist attacks and counterterror operations.
Despite these challenges, the armed forces remain resolute in their mission to safeguard the nation, reflecting unwavering bravery, professionalism, and sacrifice in the face of adversity.
