Israeli Aggression
ISTANBUL: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of Israeli military actions against Iran, calling them a dangerous provocation that threatens to push the Middle East into further instability.
In a joint declaration released following a high-level meeting of foreign ministers in Istanbul, the 57-member Islamic bloc expressed grave concern over the escalating hostilities and demanded an immediate end to Israeli attacks.
The OIC, representing nations from across the Muslim world, firmly denounced what it termed “Israel’s aggression against Iran,” describing the strikes as a violation of international law and an affront to regional peace and sovereignty.
The organisation called on the international community to take firm and effective deterrent measures to halt the aggression and hold Israel accountable for what it described as “grave crimes” committed against a fellow UN member state.
In response to the worsening security climate, the OIC announced the formation of a dedicated ministerial contact group. This group will engage with key international and regional actors to facilitate diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and conflict resolution.
The goal, according to the OIC, is to create sustained dialogue channels and pressure mechanisms to bring an end to hostilities that have the potential to spiral into a wider regional war.
The declaration also underscored the broader consequences of unchecked aggression, warning that the continuation of Israeli attacks not only undermines Iran’s sovereignty but also endangers the stability of the entire Middle East. The OIC emphasized the urgency of collective action to prevent further escalation and called for immediate international intervention to stop the bloodshed.
In a separate but related statement, the OIC expressed its deep disapproval of recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Labeling the U.S. action as a “dangerous escalation,” the organisation warned that such military interventions risk igniting a broader conflict and destabilising global security.
The OIC reiterated that unilateral military strikes on sensitive infrastructure—particularly nuclear installations—pose a serious threat not just to Iran, but to international peace.
The statements by the OIC reflect growing unease among Muslim-majority countries over the evolving conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. As the situation continues to deteriorate, the OIC called for unity among member states and a coordinated diplomatic push to prevent further violence and restore peace in the region.
