The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called an emergency meeting of foreign ministers to be held on June 21 in Istanbul, in response to the rapidly escalating situation following Israeli military aggression against Iran.
The high-level session aims to craft a unified stance from the Muslim world, with senior representatives from OIC member states expected to participate. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will inaugurate the session with an opening address, while Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan is also scheduled to speak.
Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is set to arrive in Istanbul on Friday. Dar is expected to present Pakistan’s official position on the Israeli strikes and urge OIC members to adopt a coordinated and principled response.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dar will hold a series of bilateral meetings with key counterparts, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, and senior officials from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Egypt, and Kuwait.
In a related diplomatic effort, the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir will also convene in Istanbul on Sunday to assess the latest developments in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
These back-to-back meetings are being viewed as a vital opportunity for Islamic nations to demonstrate solidarity and formulate a cohesive diplomatic response amid rising regional instability.
