ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the OIC resolution for the restoration of banking system in Afghanistan seems to be a big success.
Commenting on the 17th extraordinary session of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers held a day earlier in Islamabad, Foreign Minister today said that the problem was not the Taliban government, but 38 million Afghan nation who could face hunger and famine, if the world did not support them.
Mr Qureshi said that Afghanistan urgently needed medicine, food, and the United States should reconsider its Afghanistan policy in the interests of the Afghan people.

He noted that having 20 Foreign Ministers and 10 Deputy Foreign Ministers attending the OIC meeting in Islamabad was a great achievement for Pakistan.
He thanked the Foreign Office’s agencies and personnel, stating that the arrival of representatives from so many countries in Pakistan is a major development.
“I wish to express my gratitude to the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Senate Chairman, and the Pakistan Armed Forces. The Foreign Office staff worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the conference,” he observed.
Additionally, Qureshi expressed gratitude to Pakistan and the international media for covering this OIC Summit historic meeting.
The 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Organization of Islamic Cooperation started in Islamabad on Sunday (Dec 19) at the Parliament with 20 foreign ministers and 10 deputy foreign ministers in attendance from across the Muslim world.
Pakistani Foreign Minister said the session was convened by Saudi Arabia as OIC chair and Pakistan hosted it and 70 foreign delegates participated in the historic session which discussed the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
