Air travel in the New York and New Jersey region is largely at a standstill on January 25 due to a significant snowstorm. Hopeful travelers, much like misbehaving children, are “grounded” for the day.
Newark Liberty Airport
All flights in and out of Newark Liberty Airport have been canceled through 5:30 p.m. after a few early-morning departures and arrivals. No arrivals were scheduled after 10:55 a.m., leaving travelers scrambling for updated information.
JFK & LaGuardia Airports
John F. Kennedy International Airport is in a similar situation, open but with all flights canceled through 5:30 p.m.. LaGuardia Airport, which was open earlier in the morning, is now completely closed. Passengers are advised to contact their airlines before traveling.
Other Regional Airports
The region’s smaller general aviation airports—Teterboro and Morristown—currently report no delay status, while Essex County Airport in Caldwell remains closed.
Impact Across the East Coast
The Federal Aviation Administration reports that other airports along the East Coast are also affected, including closures in Boston, Greenville-Spartanburg (NC), and New Haven (CT). Travelers across the region should anticipate significant disruptions and plan accordingly.
