The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced its first-ever T20 International tri-series, set to feature Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka later this year. The historic tri-series will commence on November 17, with Pakistan taking on Afghanistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to the PCB, the tri-series has been organized to provide all participating teams with vital preparation ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka.
This event will also mark Afghanistan’s inaugural T20I in Pakistan, having previously played only five ODIs in the country, the latest being against Australia during the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.
The tri-series schedule sees Sri Lanka facing Afghanistan on November 19 at Rawalpindi, while the remaining five T20Is, including the final on November 29, will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The tri-series promises high-octane cricket action, giving fans an opportunity to witness competitive matches among top Asian teams.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “We look forward to hosting Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for Pakistan’s maiden T20I tri-series. This event will not only offer excellent preparation for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but also present fans with exciting cricket across venues.”
Ahmed further highlighted PCB’s organizational capabilities, noting, “Earlier this year, PCB successfully delivered the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. These achievements underline our capacity and readiness to host back-to-back international events at the highest level.”
Prior to the tri-series, Pakistan will also host South Africa in October and November for a two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, along with three T20Is and three ODIs from October 12 to November 8.
Tri-series Schedule:
- 17th Nov: Pakistan vs Afghanistan, Rawalpindi
- 19th Nov: Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan, Rawalpindi
- 22nd Nov: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Lahore
- 23rd Nov: Pakistan vs Afghanistan, Lahore
- 25th Nov: Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan, Lahore

The tri-series marks a significant milestone for Pakistan cricket, reinforcing the country’s status as a premier host for international cricket events.
