A judicial magistrate issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on Tuesday for Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Political Affairs, in connection with a 2020 case.
The politician is accused of attempting to run over police personnel and removing a container during a Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) protest. Judicial Magistrate Sidrah Gill Nawaz, while hearing the case registered at Satellite Town police station, ordered authorities to arrest Sanaullah and present him before the court on December 12.
The case, filed on October 16, 2020, relates to a PDM rally in the city. The first information report (FIR) includes charges under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including Sections 149, 147, 186, 353, and 324.
Several other individuals, including Salman Khalid Butt, Imran Khalid, and PML-N leader and former federal minister Khurram Dastgir, have already been acquitted in the case.
Previously, the police had submitted a delayed challan concerning Sanaullah, which was rejected by the court, leading to the summoning of the politician. The arrest warrant was issued today due to his repeated absences from court.
