Omar Ayub
National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub stated on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been left with no option but to stage protests against the current government.
Addressing a gathering in Haripur, Ayub expressed his concerns over the political and economic situation in the country, emphasizing that the only viable solution to Pakistan’s ongoing challenges is the conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections.
Ayub criticized the government, alleging that it had failed in all sectors and was unable to address the issues faced by the people. He claimed that the administration in power was “imposed” and lacked legitimacy, further exacerbating the political instability in the country.
He also accused the ruling authorities of suppressing press freedom, citing the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) as a tool being used to control the media.
According to him, the government’s attempts to restrict information and silence dissenting voices were part of a broader strategy to maintain its grip on power.
Furthermore, Ayub pointed out the financial difficulties faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), stating that the province had yet to receive a payment of Rs1,100 billion from the federal government.
He argued that the withholding of these funds had severely impacted development projects and essential services in KP, affecting the daily lives of its citizens.
Reiterating PTI’s stance, Ayub made it clear that the party would not back down from its demand for fair elections and that protests were now inevitable.
He urged the public to stand with PTI in its struggle for democracy and economic stability. As political tensions continue to rise, PTI’s call for demonstrations is expected to intensify in the coming days.
