Iranian leader Ali Larijani said that Iran will not hold any more talks with the United States. He issued a statement today, two days after the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israeli attacks on Saturday.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Larijani rejected claims that Tehran sought to restart negotiations with Washington and declared that Iran will not engage in talks with the United States.
Larijani addressed the reports through a post on the social media platform X. He dismissed suggestions that Iran had launched new diplomatic initiatives aimed at reopening dialogue with Washington.
Moreover, he directly responded to a report by Al Jazeera, which cited The Wall Street Journal and claimed that Larijani attempted to resume negotiations through Oman. “We will not negotiate with the US,” he stated firmly.
Larijani attacks Trump’s regional policy
In a separate post, Larijani criticized US President Donald Trump over his remarks regarding Iran. He accused Trump of plunging the region into instability based on what he described as “empty illusions.” Furthermore, Larijani claimed that Trump now fears additional American military casualties.
Larijani argued that Trump transformed the “America First” slogan into “Israel First,” alleging that he sacrificed American troops to advance Israeli interests. He also accused Trump of misleading the American public and forcing soldiers and their families to bear the consequences of escalating tensions.
Escalation follows joint military campaign
The diplomatic dispute unfolded amid intensifying conflict in the region. A joint US-Israeli military campaign launched on Saturday killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to reports.
Iran has strongly retaliated an targeted the American military assets and embassies in the Gulf countries.
