A Nigerian terrorist gang has kidnapped a Pakistani man and over 60 other individuals, and the kidnappers have set a six-day ultimatum for their demands to be met.
This is Abuzar Muhammad Afzal’s video plea to the Pakistani government and the international community for aid:
Abuzar added the kidnappers had clarified that if their demands were not satisfied within six days, all the hostages would be killed.
These hostages were seized on March 28.
“Jay Marines is the name of the firm I work for. The kidnapping of 62 persons, including myself, has taken place. We are in a really precarious position,” he declared, pleading with the federal authorities for quick help.
Pakistan, Nigeria, and the international community should all work together to secure their release, he added.
Abuzar’s mother has requested Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to take immediate action to secure his release. Despite her pleas, the authorities refused to intervene.
In an interview with The Express Tribune, Abuzar’s father, Sheikh Mohammad Afzal of Multan, said that his son earned a PhD in microbiology from Faisalabad and worked as a general manager in Nigeria.
“The kidnappers had sought the release of their prisoners from the Nigerian authorities in compensation for the kidnapping of his son”; he said.
He also stated that he had asked the federal government for help a month ago to secure his kid’s release. On the other hand, he said, no one had contacted him or given him any information on the release of his kid.
His parents, siblings, his wife, and two children of Abuzar’s appealed to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz and Foreign Minister Bilawal to engage with Nigerian counterparts to secure his release as soon as possible.
