The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has officially denied claims circulating on social media suggesting that Pakistan is introducing a new passport design.
According to the department’s clarification, the images being shared online showing an allegedly redesigned Pakistani passport are completely fake and misleading. The DGIP confirmed that no modifications have been made to the front cover or overall design of the passport.
Security Features Upgraded, Not the Design
While ruling out any cosmetic or structural changes, the DGIP explained that only minor enhancements to the passport’s security features have been implemented. These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen identity verification and reduce document forgery.
The department emphasised that these updates do not alter the passport’s appearance or layout and therefore do not constitute a design change.
Public Urged to Ignore False Information
The DGIP urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid spreading unverified information regarding government documents. It further warned that legal action would be taken against individuals involved in creating or sharing false propaganda about the passport.
Officials advised the public to rely only on official government announcements for updates related to passport policies, fees, or design changes.
Updated Passport Fee Structure — October 2025
The DGIP also reaffirmed the existing passport fee schedule for October 2025. Below is the breakdown for various categories:
