Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday oversaw the signing of a series of economic, security and diplomatic agreements during a joint press conference in Jerusalem. The leaders highlighted expanding cooperation as a key pillar of their growing bilateral partnership.
Earlier in the day, Netanyahu welcomed Modi for official talks focused on strengthening collaboration in trade, innovation, defense and technology. Following their meeting, both sides formalized multiple agreements aimed at deepening strategic ties and enhancing regional cooperation.
Moreover, Modi described the relationship between Israel and India as a source of stability in an uncertain global environment. He emphasized that both nations share common democratic values and mutual interests in economic growth and technological advancement.
Before the press conference, Netanyahu and Modi visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. The two leaders began their tour in the Hall of Names, where they paid tribute to victims of the Holocaust.
Subsequently, they attended a memorial ceremony at the site. Modi laid a wreath and placed a stone on the memorial to honor those who perished. In a post on X, he described the Holocaust as one of humanityโs darkest chapters and stressed the importance of upholding dignity, humanity and peace.
Meanwhile, Modi addressed the Knesset shortly after arriving in Israel on Wednesday. His speech marked the first time an Indian prime minister addressed the Israeli parliament.
During his remarks, Modi praised the enduring friendship between the two countries and outlined plans to expand cooperation in innovation, technology and economic development. Lawmakers welcomed him with a standing ovation, underscoring the significance of the visit.
