Woman sets two minor sons on fire in Lahore

A mother of two allegedly set her two minors on fire due to poverty at Kot Asadullah village in the Manga Mandi area on Monday.

A fire incident was reported to the Rescue 1122 emergency service at Kot Asadullah in the family’s three-marla house where Abdul Rehman (3) and Faizan (4) were recovered dead with burns from a room.

The house was also damaged partially in the fire that also burnt the portion of the house involving two rooms and a kitchen.

According to a statement by a police officer, when the rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site after the call, they noticed a petrol smell in the house and that’s when they alerted the police before shifting the bodies of the two children to the hospital.

After being told about the strange circumstances encircling the incident by the Rescue 1122 team, the police started the interrogation of the parents of the deceased children.

Initially, the mother responded with conflicting statements but after being drilled further, the mother confessed her crime. She further said that her husband, who is a laborer, could not afford the everyday expense and that is what pushed her to an extent of firstly strangling her minor sons and then set the room on fire with petrol.

As the fire spread the space, she collected the neighbors and told them a false story of a fire breaking out of nowhere in the house.

After her confession, the bodies are shifted to the city morgue for the postmortem examination.
