Two soldiers and five civilians were killed in terrorist attack in D.I. Khan

Two Pakistan Army personnel and five civilians were tragically killed in a terrorist assault on the Rural Health Center in Kirri Shamozai area of Dera Ismail Khan district.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists launched an attack on the Kirri Shamozai RHC during the night spanning July 15th and 16th. They indiscriminately fired upon the health center’s staff, resulting in the deaths of five civilians, including two lady health workers, two children, and one watchman.

Upon receiving the alert, nearby security forces swiftly mobilized and conducted a clearance operation at the RHC. In the ensuing encounter, three terrorists were successfully neutralized. However, the firefight also resulted in the tragic loss of two soldiers identified as Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq and Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal.

Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq, aged 44 and hailing from Narowal district, had dedicated 25 years of service to the nation. He leaves behind his grieving wife, two daughters, and two sons. Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal, aged 23 and from Khanewal district, had served in the Pakistan Army for three years and is survived by his parents and siblings.

Following the operation, the area was secured to ensure no further threat posed by remaining terrorists. Authorities have vowed to apprehend those responsible for this reprehensible attack on innocent civilians, particularly women and children.

Separately, in a recent incident at Bannu Cantonment, eight army personnel were martyred while thwarting a terrorist attempt.

According to ISPR, security forces successfully repelled an attack by 10 terrorists who attempted to breach the cantonment’s defenses on the morning of July 15th. Terrorists employed an explosives-laden vehicle to breach a wall, resulting in casualties among security personnel and destruction of the perimeter.
