Leader of the ‘transgender robbers’ gang arrested in Lahore

The Lahore police’s Dolphin Force has announced the arrest of a suspected gang leader of “transgender robbers” accused of targeting students.

The incident took place on Friday night at Canal Road Nursery Chowk, where a group of transgender individuals allegedly robbed several students, according to a police spokesperson on Saturday.

“After receiving a distress call on the emergency number 15, the Dolphin team quickly arrived at the scene and apprehended the gang leader, while his accomplices managed to escape,” the spokesperson stated.

The spokesperson noted that this gang had previously committed similar robberies along the busy road, which students often use to reach the university. “They would forcibly snatch mobile phones and cash from passersby using coercion and intimidation.”

The arrested suspect, identified as Ayesha and hailing from Layyah, is accused of stealing Rs15,000 from a victim on Friday. Police reported that the victim identified the arrested individual.

Items recovered from Ayesha include a mobile phone and Air Pods. The suspect has been transferred to the L Block Police Station for further investigation, while efforts continue to locate the fleeing accomplices.
