Three security personnel were killed and four others injured in a blast in Kalat

At least three security personnel were killed and four others injured in a bomb blast in Kalat district, Balochistan, on Saturday.

The incident took place on Skalko Road near Qalat city, as reported by a senior local administration official. Unidentified individuals had planted explosives at a location known as Dasht Mahmood on Skalko Road, which detonated as a vehicle carrying security forces passed by.

The police official stated that three personnel in the vehicle were killed in the blast, while four others sustained injuries and have been taken to a hospital for treatment. An official confirmed that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device, but no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kalat is situated approximately 150 kilometers south of Quetta and is home to various Baloch tribes. Earlier this year, on the night of August 25-26, 11 individuals, including Levies and police personnel, lost their lives in militant attacks on a Levies station and other sites in Qalat. In June, two Frontier Corps personnel were killed in an attack on a security post at a Pakistan Petroleum Limited exploration site near Skalko.

Historically, many attacks in Kalat have been attributed to a banned militant group.
