Step-by-Step Guide: How to Register for PM Laptop Scheme 2025

PM Laptop Scheme 2025

The Government of Pakistan has officially relaunched the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme for 2025, aiming to distribute 100,000 laptops to deserving students across the country. This initiative is part of a broader vision to equip the youth with essential digital tools for their educational advancement and professional development.

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme welcomes students from all academic backgrounds, with distribution strictly based on merit. To be considered eligible for the laptop distribution, students must be enrolled in a public sector university or a Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized Degree Awarding Institute. The following categories of students are eligible:

  • Those enrolled in PhD, MS, MPhil, or equivalent 18-year programs (excluding weekend-only programs).
  • Students pursuing a 1.5 or 2-year master’s program, again excluding weekend programs.
  • Individuals studying in 4-year or 5-year bachelor’s programs, regardless of whether they attend morning or evening sessions.
  • Applicants must have secured at least 70% marks in a semester system (or a minimum of 2.80 CGPA), or 60% marks under an annual system. HEC’s conversion formula will be used to determine percentage equivalents of CGPA/GPA.

Biometric Verification Requirement

As part of the verification process, eligible students are required to undergo biometric thumb verification at designated NADRA e-Sahulat Centers. This is crucial to maintain transparency and ensure that only deserving students benefit from the scheme. The Higher Education Department, in collaboration with NADRA, will cover the biometric verification expenses and collect documentation for reimbursement.

The verification process began on April 24, 2025, and students are advised to complete it in time to participate in the first distribution ceremony scheduled for April 30, 2025. Around 7,000 laptops will be distributed during this initial phase.

Application Process

To register for the PM Laptop Scheme 2025, students must:

  1. Visit the official website: https://laptop.pmyp.gov.pk/verifyregistration.php.
  2. Enter their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number and solve the captcha.
  3. Submit the form.
  4. After registration, students can check the status of their application by clicking on “Application Status” on the portal.

Updating Existing Records

Students who have previously applied and wish to update their records can follow these steps:

  1. Open the registration portal.
  2. Click on the menu icon (three lines on the right-hand side).
  3. Navigate to the “Existing Applicants” section.
  4. Select your respective university and provide your CNIC and date of birth to access and update your record.
