GILGIT: According to climate change minister Sherry Rehman, the federal government will take “more effective and serious measures” to mitigate the effects of climate change on Gilgit-Baltistan.

The federal minister made these remarks during a meeting with Amjad Hussain, the leader of the opposition in the GB assembly, who paid her a visit on Saturday.

According to the opposition leader’s press release, the minister was informed of the negative effects of climate change in the United Kingdom.

According to the statement, he also stated that climate change is causing a number of problems in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Hussain believes that rapid glacier melting endangers the community’s infrastructure and residents.

“Protecting these glaciers and preventing locals from melting glaciers disaster is the urgent need of the hour,” he further added.

The federal government, according to Ms. Rehman, is actively working to put protective measures in place in Gilgit-Baltistan to protect the region from the effects of climate change.

She further stated that the federal government would take “more effective and serious measures” to prevent climate change damage in Gilgit-Baltistan.
