Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of using excuses to justify boycotts in the Senate elections. Memon criticized PTI’s press conference, stating it relied solely on statements and anecdotes. He emphasized that PTI leaders were adamant about not submitting retirement papers.
In another development, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) announced its decision to support former federal minister Faisal Vawda in the Senate elections. PPP directed six Sindh Assembly lawmakers to vote for Vawda, ensuring his potential victory in the general Senate seat. With PPP’s backing, Vawda is poised to secure victory on the general seat, bolstering PPP’s chances of winning five out of the seven general seats.
The upcoming Senate elections in Sindh Assembly, scheduled for April 2, will witness intense political maneuvers. Earlier, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) also pledged its support for Vawda.
These developments underscore the strategic alliances and negotiations underway among political parties to secure favorable outcomes in the Senate elections. The decision by PPP and MQM-P to back Vawda highlights the intricate dynamics shaping the political landscape in Sindh. As parties position themselves to maximize their influence and representation in the Senate, the upcoming elections are poised to be a critical juncture in Pakistan’s political trajectory.
