Sessions Court Denies Bail for Natasha Danish in Drug Use Case Related to Karsaz Accident

Natasha Danish, the suspect in the Karsaz traffic accident, had her bail application rejected by the Sessions Court. She had previously appealed the dismissal of her bail by a judicial magistrate. On September 6, a settlement was reached with the victims’ families, and Natasha submitted an affidavit declaring the accident was unintentional. She was granted bail after posting a Rs100,000 surety bond.

However, an additional charge was brought against Natasha for driving under the influence after police added Section 100 of the Motor Vehicle Act to the FIR on September 2, following reports of methamphetamine (“ice”) use.

On Wednesday, Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Shahid Ali Memon reviewed Natasha’s bail application. Her attorney, Aamir Mansoob Qureshi, argued that the FIR was based solely on a chemical report indicating the presence of methamphetamine in her urine and claimed that Natasha was falsely implicated under outdated laws, with no specific punishment for methamphetamine use in current legislation. He also contended that only one case should be filed for the incident, as Natasha was already facing charges under the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance.

In contrast, state prosecutor Syed Khursheed Abbas Bukhari opposed the bail, noting that the investigation was still ongoing and the final charge sheet had not yet been submitted.
