A key commander of the Balochistan Liberation Front, known as Shambeen alias Shahak, was reportedly killed by a fellow member, sources confirmed on Tuesday.
This incident underscores escalating internal discord within the BLF, a group with alleged ties to Indian funding.
Shambeen, a prominent militant leader involved in numerous terrorist activities, had become a highly sought-after figure. His assassination points to growing divisions within the BLF, reflecting broader power struggles over funding and control among India-supported terrorist organizations.
Shambeen was notorious for his direct involvement in attacks on security forces and targeted killings of former associates who had surrendered. His high-profile role in these attacks made him a significant figure within the BLF.
The recent internal conflicts among BLF members, coupled with disputes among other terrorist groups receiving external support, are believed to be intensifying. This discord is further destabilizing their operations and complicating their coordination.
On January 18, the Pakistan Armed Forces conducted targeted strikes on terrorist hideouts belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Army and BLF inside Iran.
The Inter-Services Public Relations reported that these “precision strikes” were executed using armed drones, rockets, and other advanced weaponry, with utmost care taken to avoid collateral damage.
The day before, on January 17, Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Iran and expelled Tehran’s envoy in response to Iranian missile and drone strikes within Pakistani territory.
These strikes were reportedly aimed at two ‘terrorist bases’ associated with Jaish-al-Adl, a group operating from Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province. The rapid deterioration in relations between Pakistan and Iran reflects the high tensions and complex dynamics influencing regional security.
