Screenwriter Asma Nabeel Passes Away After Long Battle With Cancer; A Huge Loss To Pakistani Drama Industry

A notable Screen writer, Asma Nabeel passed away in Karachi after a long fight with cancer.

Asma Nabeel, a famous name in drama industry has died on Thursday, after fighting with cancer. “With a heavy heart I have to break this news that my bhabhi, Asma Nabeel, is no longer with us,” a post on Asma’s Facebook account read. After this news many stars were upset and expressed their sympathies with her family. She was fighting with cancer and revealed her own experience.

A video campaign ‘Pardeh Mein Parwah’ done by Ali Zeeshan raises awareness about the occurrence of breast cancer in Pakistan. Her production company Crew motion pictures, has also led the release of the feature film Fly, which will tackle the taboo subject of breast cancer on the big screens.

A few months ago, she posted some Quranic verse with the hashtags #cancerjourney and #chapter02, and wrote, “Only prayers can heal”. The announcement of funeral was updated on her Instagram account.

Feroze Khan, who starred in the writer’s most popular drama Khaani, said, “Asma loses her battle against cancer, but certainly won a better place up there.”
