SCBA Backs Pakistan Army in Wake of Strikes on Iran

Pakistan Army

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has declared its unwavering support for the Pakistan Army in the aftermath of military strikes on Iran, triggered by Tehran’s infringement of Pakistan’s airspace. In a statement issued after a meeting of the SCBA Executive Committee on Saturday, the association condemned Iran’s violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and commended the armed forces for their retaliatory actions.

The SCBA expressed solidarity with the armed forces, emphasizing the legal community’s support for their response to safeguard national interests. The association underscored the importance of upholding Pakistan’s sovereignty and praised the armed forces for their commitment to protecting the country.

Amidst the geopolitical tensions, the SCBA voiced concern over a negative campaign targeting Supreme Court judges and the judiciary. While acknowledging the right to freedom of expression, the association emphasized the need for limits, asserting that campaigning against the judiciary under the guise of freedom of expression was unacceptable.

The SCBA advocated for open discussions about judicial decisions but condemned the targeting of judges and their families based on these decisions as intolerable. It stressed the importance of responsible expression of opinion and called for action against those engaging in negative propaganda.

Furthermore, the SCBA denounced the incident of police firing on lawyers in an Islamabad court and demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter by high-ranking police officials. The association highlighted the need for accountability and justice, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding the legal profession’s integrity and ensuring fair treatment for legal professionals.

In a comprehensive stance, the Supreme Court Bar Association addressed not only the geopolitical events but also issues pertaining to freedom of expression, judicial independence, and the protection of legal professionals’ rights.
