Saudi Foreign Minister Pledges Full Support for Pakistan’s Economic Development

Economic Development

During a joint press conference in Islamabad, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud affirmed the kingdom’s commitment to fostering economic development in Pakistan.

This announcement came during his two-day official visit, following a series of high-level discussions prompted by recent interactions between Saudi and Pakistani leadership, notably between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

The Saudi Foreign Minister acknowledged the previous dialogues held between the two nations, emphasizing the continuity of constructive engagement.

He expressed gratitude for the warm reception received in Pakistan and highlighted upcoming initiatives to enhance investments in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, minerals, and information technology.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar of Pakistan welcomed the Saudi delegation, describing it as an unprecedented and significant visit in his extensive political career.

He expressed optimism about converting the friendly relations between the two nations into a strategic partnership. Dar also noted the operational role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which aims to expedite foreign investments through a streamlined, single-window operation.

He reassured that under Prime Minister Sharif’s directives, Pakistan would provide a conducive environment for Saudi investments.

Furthermore, both ministers addressed the grave situation in Gaza. They expressed deep regret over the international community’s failure to enforce a ceasefire and demanded immediate action to open humanitarian corridors to prevent a looming famine.

Foreign Minister Dar called for a global investigation into the crimes committed against humanity in Gaza, highlighting the dire need for urgent humanitarian aid.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan also spoke on Gaza, condemning the inaction over the UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire.

He described the current conditions in Gaza as a famine-like situation, where thousands are facing starvation due to the blockade of international aid. He stressed the urgency of addressing this humanitarian crisis and called for an immediate end to the suffering of the Gazan people.

Both ministers underscored the importance of their countries’ relationship, promising to work together to bolster economic ties and ensure regional security, reaffirming their commitment to continuing their historic bilateral cooperation.
