Railway police apprehend 3 minors trying to travel to South Africa

Three underage girls from Dera Ghazi Khan were rescued by railway police while attempting to travel to South Africa in search of a better future.

The girls, aged 14 and identified as Aafia, Alisha, and Aiman, are cousins who had made the journey to Lahore railway station with plans to first travel to Karachi before departing for South Africa.

Their trip, however, took an unexpected turn when a duty constable discovered the girls abandoned in the main porch of the station.

Recognizing the situation, the officer took them into protective custody for their safety.

During the interrogation, the girls revealed their intentions to leave home, driven by hopes of a brighter future away from their current circumstances. Their guardians had already reported them missing at the Police Station Kot Mubarak in Dera Ghazi Khan, prompting a swift response from the railway police upon realizing the connection.

The rescue highlights the vulnerability of minors in their quest for opportunities, as well as the critical role of law enforcement in safeguarding children.

Authorities are now working to reunite the girls with their families while also investigating the circumstances that led them to undertake such a perilous journey.

This incident raises important questions about the challenges faced by young individuals seeking a better life and the need for protective measures to prevent such situations.

As the girls receive support from social services, their story serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and intervention in protecting vulnerable youth. The railway police’s quick actions not only prevented potential danger but also brought attention to the broader issues surrounding migration and the welfare of minors.
