Qaiser Sheikh
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, has expressed strong support for the ongoing talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling it a positive development for the country.
In a recent statement, Sheikh highlighted the significance of these negotiations, emphasizing that they represent a step toward political stability and national progress. He also stated that 2024 is expected to be a pivotal year for Pakistan’s economic recovery, with a focus on improving the country’s economic outlook.
Speaking in Chiniot, Sheikh touched on several key issues the government is addressing, including efforts to reduce interest rates and inflation.
He emphasized the importance of fostering economic growth, stressing that the country must focus on increasing the growth rate. According to Sheikh, a rise in the growth rate will be essential for Pakistan’s future prosperity.
Additionally, he pointed out that reducing electricity prices is crucial to stimulating industrial growth, which would contribute significantly to the country’s economic recovery.
Alongside economic reforms, Sheikh underscored the necessity of political stability for the country’s overall progress.
He called for greater dialogue between political parties, suggesting that open communication is critical for resolving national challenges. Sheikh’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment that political cooperation is essential for navigating Pakistan’s economic and social issues.
In parallel, Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik also expressed support for dialogue between the government and PTI. Speaking to the media, Malik emphasized the importance of constructive conversations to address the country’s issues.
He made it clear, however, that the focus of these talks should remain on political matters, leaving aside criminal cases involving PTI’s leadership.
Malik highlighted the need for the parties to engage in discussions, stating that such dialogue was necessary for moving the country forward.
While Malik welcomed the talks, he made a distinction between political issues and criminal cases, specifically referring to the allegations against PTI founder Imran Khan.
He clarified that the criminal matters, such as the £190 million case involving misappropriated state resources, were separate from the political dialogue. Malik stressed that the cases against Khan were criminal in nature and should not be mixed with political negotiations.
