Punjab Police confront visually impaired protesters on The Mall using force

Protesters clashed with Lahore Police as they attempted to dismantle barriers. The visually impaired demonstrators, advocating for government jobs in accordance with their quota, turned The Mall in Lahore into a ‘battlefield’ while trying to march towards the Chief Minister’s House.

The Punjab Police intervened in front of Lawrence Garden — Bagh Jinnah, where tensions flared as the protesters sought to remove barriers. Despite the clashes, the protesters persisted in their sit-in near the Governor’s House, leading to further confrontations with law enforcement.

Several individuals sustained injuries during the altercations. In response, police increased their presence on Mall Road and erected additional barriers on routes leading to both the Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s House to curb any further escalation.

The protesters remain resolute, vowing to continue their sit-in until their demands are addressed. The situation remains tense as discussions with the authorities are ongoing.
