Mobile Registration
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new initiative aimed at providing greater ease and flexibility to overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors who wish to use their personal mobile phones while staying in the country.
In a recent announcement, PTA introduced a Temporary Mobile Registration System, enabling visitors to register their devices for a period of up to 120 days during each visit to Pakistan.
According to a press release by the PTA, this new system is designed with the needs of international travelers in mind, offering a free-of-cost, fully digital registration process.
The initiative allows overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals to ensure uninterrupted mobile connectivity throughout their stay in Pakistan. By utilizing the Device Registration System (DRS) portal, available at https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs, users can complete the entire process online without having to visit any physical office.
This move is part of the authority’s broader efforts to enhance user convenience and ensure that mobile connectivity remains seamless for all individuals visiting the country.
It supports easier communication and helps visitors avoid disruptions that can result from unregistered mobile devices being blocked on local networks.
The PTA emphasized that the 120-day registration window is available during each visit, meaning travelers can re-register their devices every time they enter Pakistan. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who frequently travel between Pakistan and other countries.
By implementing this policy, PTA has reiterated its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity. The authority continues to focus on user-centric policies that promote a high standard of service while simplifying the use of telecommunications technology for all.
The new system is expected to significantly enhance the communication experience of visitors, making it easier for them to stay connected with family, friends, and business contacts throughout their time in Pakistan.
