PPP MPA Amir Shah falls victim to online scam

UCH SHARIF: Syed Amir Ali Shah, a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA representing PP-250 Bahawalpur, has fallen victim to an online scam.

The MPA received a fraudulent call claiming that development schemes had been approved and requesting an immediate deposit of funds. Trusting the call’s authenticity, Amir Shah transferred Rs600,000 as instructed. The scam was reported shortly thereafter, leading to the filing of a case at the Uch Sharif police station.

This incident underscores the persistent issue of online fraud affecting individuals, including public officials, through increasingly sophisticated methods.

Authorities are currently investigating the case to identify and apprehend those responsible for the scam and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
