PM Shehbaz Directs Swift Action Against Tax Defaulters

PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently expressed his satisfaction over Pakistan’s improving economic situation, highlighting positive strides in various sectors.

During a high-level meeting to review the country’s economic status, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of collective efforts in the nation’s progress.

He stressed that every sector must contribute to national development by paying its due share of taxes.

PM Shehbaz issued strong directives to speed up actions against tax defaulters, vowing that authorities would not rest until tax evaders and their accomplices faced full legal consequences.

His stern message signaled the government’s resolve to curb tax evasion and ensure that all individuals and businesses comply with tax regulations.

The Finance Ministry provided an update on its ongoing discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with the Prime Minister acknowledging that Pakistan was gradually moving towards economic stability.

He pointed out the impressive growth of the stock market, crediting the government’s economic development measures for this positive trend.

Additionally, he highlighted the increasing confidence of foreign investors in Pakistan’s economic policies, noting that the country’s improved economic outlook was attracting more international investment.

PM Shehbaz also addressed key achievements in the country’s economic trajectory. He revealed that inflation had significantly reduced from 38% to 7%, and the central bank’s interest rate had been lowered from 22% to 15%.

This reduction in borrowing costs was expected to boost business activity and create more employment opportunities, the Prime Minister explained.

Moreover, the country’s foreign exchange reserves had strengthened, bolstered by rising exports and record remittances from overseas Pakistanis.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to commend Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the provincial government for their agricultural reforms, which he described as critical to ensuring sustainable growth in the sector and enhancing food security for the country.

In closing, PM Shehbaz reiterated the importance of a unified approach to the country’s progress, urging all sectors to play an active role in nation-building by fulfilling their tax obligations.

He reaffirmed that public welfare would remain the government’s top priority as it moved forward with its developmental agenda.
