‘Marka-e-Haq Day’
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday made a series of historic announcements to honor Pakistan’s recent military success in “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” declaring May 10 to be commemorated annually as ‘Marka-e-Haq Day’ across the country. The declaration marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s defense narrative, aiming to recognize the valor, professionalism, and sacrifice of the nation’s armed forces in repelling aggression and defending national sovereignty.
In a statement, the Prime Minister hailed May 10 as a “glorious chapter” in the country’s military history, celebrating the unwavering resolve and exceptional competence of Pakistan’s defense forces. “The professional capabilities of our brave forces have made the nation proud,” he remarked, emphasizing that the date would serve as a symbol of Pakistan’s strength and resilience for generations to come.
To further consolidate national gratitude and unity, Shehbaz Sharif also announced that May 16 (Friday) will be observed as a ‘Day of Gratitude’ nationwide. On this day, special prayers will be held across mosques and institutions to thank Allah Almighty for the protection and victory granted to Pakistan during the recent military escalation. The day will also serve to pray for the continued prosperity, peace, and strength of the nation.
The Prime Minister unveiled a wide-ranging relief and compensation package aimed at supporting the families of martyrs and those affected by Indian attacks. The package includes:
- Rs10 million for families of civilian martyrs; injured civilians to receive Rs1 to 2 million.
- Families of martyred Pakistan Army personnel to receive Rs10 million to Rs18 million, based on rank.
- Home facility allowances ranging from Rs19 million to Rs42 million, depending on the martyr’s rank.
- Full salary and allowances of martyrs to continue until their scheduled retirement.
- Free education up to graduation for children of martyrs.
- A marriage grant of Rs1 million for one daughter of each martyr.
- Injured military personnel to receive Rs2 to 5 million, depending on the severity of injury.
- The government will reconstruct homes and mosques damaged during Indian attacks.
- All medical treatment expenses for the injured will be fully covered by the state.
- National recognition and awards will be given to individuals who played a pivotal role in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty on any front.
“The state will never abandon its heroes,” the Prime Minister affirmed. “It is our sacred duty to care for the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The future of their children is the responsibility of the government.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded by asserting that the annual observance of ‘Marka-e-Haq Day’ will serve as a unifying force for the nation, a tribute to the martyrs, and a reaffirmation of the courage and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces.
