PIA Official Faces Show-Cause Notice Over Fake Intermediate Certificate

Show-Cause Notice

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a show-cause notice to its Deputy Station Manager in Birmingham, Javed Iqbal Bajwa, following the discovery that his intermediate certificate was counterfeit.

The notice was issued after a verification process revealed the falsified nature of the educational document.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline had taken the step of sending Bajwa’s educational credentials to the appropriate boards for authentication.

The verification process confirmed that the intermediate certificate presented by Bajwa was not genuine.

As a result, Bajwa has been given a seven-day period to respond in writing and provide evidence proving the authenticity of his certificate. Failure to comply with this request may lead to disciplinary measures against him.

In addition to this issue, the PIA has recently faced another controversy involving its operations in Bahrain. The airline had to issue a clarification concerning the arrest of its country manager in Bahrain.

The manager was detained for allegedly taking pieces of passenger luggage, which led to confusion and concern. However, the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain described the incident as a ‘misunderstanding.’

A PIA spokesperson explained that the national airline does not operate an office at Bahrain airport, which complicated the handling of unclaimed baggage.

According to the spokesperson, the surplus luggage was transferred to the PIA central office in Bahrain city. The spokesperson assured that the misplaced bags are eventually delivered to their rightful owners.

The spokesperson further clarified that the situation was not a case of criminal intent but rather an administrative oversight due to the lack of a PIA office at the airport.

In light of this, the airline sought legal assistance from the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain to address the matter and provide support for the detained officer. Senior officers have been assigned to represent the case in court.

It is important to note that, under Bahrain’s airport regulations, taking passengers’ belongings is considered a criminal offense.

The PIA is committed to resolving this issue and ensuring that all procedures comply with legal and ethical standards.
