A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, PK-503, which was headed for Gwadar, was forced to return to Karachi shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue with its engine.
The incident occurred on Monday morning, causing concern among passengers and prompting the airline to take swift action to ensure their safety.
The flight, which had departed from Jinnah International Airport at 8:13 a.m., was en route to Gwadar when the pilot noticed an engine fault shortly after leaving the runway.
Recognizing the potential risk, the pilot immediately contacted air traffic control to report the issue and began preparations for a return to Karachi.
The flight, which was airborne for just 43 minutes, made a precautionary landing at Karachi Airport without incident.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed that the flight landed safely and reassured passengers that no one was harmed during the episode. “The aircraft is currently undergoing an inspection at Karachi Airport,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing that the safety of passengers was the airline’s highest priority.
The airline’s swift response and adherence to safety protocols ensured that there was no danger to those on board.
In the wake of the incident, PIA’s engineering department has been actively working to identify and address the technical fault that led to the return of the flight.
The airline has assured the public that the issue will be thoroughly investigated and rectified before the flight resumes its journey to Gwadar.
The aircraft will only be cleared to continue its operation once the necessary safety checks and inspections are completed.
PIA emphasized that the decision to return to Karachi was taken with caution and in line with the airline’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its passengers.
The airline has pledged to keep passengers updated regarding the status of the flight and any further developments.
