PHC announces relocation of Tank and South Waziristan courts to DIK

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has made the decision to relocate the courts in Tank and South Waziristan districts to Dera Ismail Khan (DIK) due to ongoing security concerns.

This directive, issued on Thursday, instructs judges to conduct their duties in DIK until conditions improve in the affected areas.

Sources indicate that the transfer is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of judicial officers and court staff amid a deteriorating security situation in Tank and South Waziristan. The courts will continue to operate and hear cases in DIK until it is deemed safe to return to their original locations.

The decision was reportedly reached unanimously during a meeting that included the Chief Justice and all sitting judges, who prioritized the security and well-being of the court personnel. The move reflects a proactive approach by the PHC to maintain judicial functions while safeguarding the lives of those involved in the legal process.

This relocation underscores the challenges faced by the judiciary in regions impacted by violence and instability, and it highlights the court’s commitment to ensuring that justice continues to be served, even in adverse conditions.

The PHC will monitor the security situation closely and will determine the timeline for potentially returning the courts to Tank and South Waziristan based on improvements in safety and security.
