Passport Production Capacity Doubles to 40,000 Daily with New Printers

The Passport Department has successfully completed the installation of ten advanced passport printers, doubling its daily production capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 passports. This significant increase is expected to alleviate the backlog of passport requests, improving service efficiency.

Director General (DG) of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, highlighted the impact of this upgrade, noting that the new equipment has already streamlined the production process. Speaking to reporters, Qazi confirmed the enhanced daily output, emphasizing that the department’s response to the demand for passports has now been strengthened considerably. The DG further revealed that an additional seven state-of-the-art printers are expected to be delivered soon to the passport headquarters, which will further augment the department’s printing capabilities.

To address the rising demand for electronic passports, two specialized printers have also been procured specifically for e-passport production. This move is part of a broader modernization effort aimed at meeting the evolving needs of travelers seeking quick and efficient service.

Qazi expressed optimism about the department’s enhanced capabilities, which, he said, will play a vital role in managing the high volume of passport applications. With the increase in production capacity, the department is confident it will be able to address outstanding applications more effectively and improve overall service delivery.

The Passport Department’s focus on upgrading its infrastructure reflects a commitment to addressing the surge in passport applications and maintaining a seamless process for citizens. The improvements are expected to ease service delays, providing applicants with faster access to travel documents and responding efficiently to the growing demand for both traditional and electronic passports.
